Too many people don’t like their jobs. I want to do something about it!

Joanna_Penn_LargeHi, I’m Joanna Penn, the author of “How To Enjoy Your Job”. I have been a business IT consultant for 12 years in Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as America so I know all about cubicle life and how hard it can be!

I wrote the book in order to try and make a difference to people’s working lives. In the course of writing the book, I changed my own life and also that of others who read the book. Since writing “How To Enjoy Your Job”, I went to a part-time role in business consulting, have written 2 more books and established The Creative Penn, which helps other people achieve their life goal of writing a book.

In this video, I explain a bit more about the book and what it contains:

My Background

I have been a Business and IT consultant for 12 years in Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as training in the US. I have worked for large organisations such as Accenture, Cap Gemini, and IBM as well as small, boutique consultancies.

My clients have included the global companies British American Tobacco, Fonterra, and Rio Tinto as well as small corporates in New Zealand and Australia. I have used this experience as well as interviews with other people and extensive research to create this book. I have used my consulting experience to create the easy-to-use diagrams and process flows throughout the book. I currently enjoy my job as a part time contractor.

I have a degree in Theology from University of Oxford (Mansfield College) and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from University of Auckland.

I have had 3 businesses before this one – running a luxury dive charter business in New Zealand, starting my own online travel business and also a confidence consultancy. The lessons learnt from this are also incorporated into my book.

I live near Brisbane, Queensland, Australia with my husband Jonathan and my cat, Shmi.
